Joyce Sweet is a graduate of Longwood College with a BA in English and Dramatic Arts and a Masters in Theatre Education. She currently teaches Directing, Theatre History, and Theatre Culture and Diversity at Longwood (University). She has taught Acting, Voice &Speech, Methods of Teaching Theatre, the Creative, Dramatic Classroom and Public Speaking there. Sweet also taught at Piedmont Community College and Blue Ridge Community College. She taught and started the theatre programs at Appomattox County High School and William Monroe High School. Her teams won state championships in Theatre, Forensics, and Debate. She was awarded the “Outstanding Speech, Drama, and Debate Educator” for mid-Atlantic states. She was co-founder of Depot Dramatics, community theatre group in Appomattox. In addition, she also acted with Four County Players in Ruckersville, Va. Joyce was the English Speaking Union’s award winner which allowed her to study Shakespeare in Stratford, England.
